Jammos
hi i have just set up yet another tank! But i was wondering for small tanks........ if you have a powerhead in the tank do you still need a air supply or will the powerhead and the swirling create enogh oxygen movement???? i have always wondered this and it would be lovely to get rid of the buzzing noise for the smaller tanks. Faran
The amount of oxygen in the water of a tank (and how many fish are able to be sustainied by that) is calculated mainly from the surface area of the water. Ripples in the surface of the water fromthe powerhead should create aeration enough for the proper amount of fish. Just watch your fish and keep an eye for gasping fishies and you should be sweet! Pies
I wouldn't use an airstone. Obvious sign of fish suffering from oxygen deprevation is that they will hand out near the surface (uncharacteristically). good luck Pie
