Bluetom
just saw the post on the b/n snowman, I remember seeing it now. Well done to you too.
Alan
A couple more days to the hatch time. See if you can pick out the dead (white) eggs with a needle and blow away the mess using an airline to jet water into the space it was in. It (fungus)will spread rapidly, and consume the whole egg mass if you don't. Give us some clues as to how they are situated, with/without the parents, com. tank or are they on their own. Tell us more info please. Alan
Bluetom
sure thing, now that batteries are charged here are some pics too. The are in a angel only 200L tank (1200x375x375), there are 7 angels, this pair and 5 others unpaired, The have taken to the righthand end of the tank. Pic of whole tank: They are laid down the right hand end on a piece fo PVC pipe (thanks bill): hard to get a really good picture cos they have laid them of the back side of the pipe and on the glass in the corner, best view is fromthe top but won't come out on camera. Here is a shot of the parents on border control, they don't like the others to come down their end: Hope this is good. I was going to put the airstone under the pipe however there are only a few whit eggs and the parent (not sure male or female) is doing a good fanning job and didn't want to push her away by using the airstone. Alan
Can you get a piece of glass cut to the width of the tank, LESS 2mm. Then cut two lengths of garden-hose, and slit length way to fit on the edged of the piece of glass. It should go down into the gravel and at least 10mm above the water-level. I like to make it as tall as possible to stop any fish jumping. The glass will separate the two families of angels. If the glass has been measured correctly the babies shouldn't get thru to be eaten. Gentle aeration won't hurt. Have you got you brine-shrimp ready to setup?? You'll need it about four days from hatching when they (angelets) will come up in a swarm free swimming. DON'T feed, or attempt to feed them, before this. G'luk Alan
Bluetom
do you reckon it would be easier to transfer the eggs to a seperate tank? i have a tank with half a dozen guppy fry (3 days old)
Alan
Yes, I didn't realize that you had a spare tank. Make sure that the water conditions are the same. The guppy fry will end up as angel food tho. Alan
Bluetom
do you think i should move parents as well? Just the other tank is only 40L, would be ok for fry but not sure if the angels will like it at all, i may just leave them to it this time and then see how it goes, they may be good parents and won't have to worry but may as well give them a chance, they'll probably spawn againwithin a few weeks anyway. However all this info is really good, i now have some really good plans Not really enough time to get the glass made but i think that could be a goer. Thanks heaps Alan
Alan
They won't be free swimming before the weekend. You could shift them either way, with or without the parents If you remove the eggs, watch out for aggressive behavior. Each will think the other ate them, and they could fight. Just be aware. What bloody size is a 40lt tank??? L x B x H?????????????? 40 litres That means absolutely NOTHING to me. Or really to anyone else for that matter. Could be a stack of 40 litre milk bottles on top of one another. Blasted yankee care-on. Alan
Faran
A 45x30x30cm tank is 40 ltr. If you don't have time for cutting glass at least get a tank separator. Just a plastic mesh that you use to keep the families apart. Very small fry can still go through, but you can use two meshes at the same time to prevent that or whatever's clever. Congrats and good luck!
Alan
Just remember, other fish can SUCK the fry thru the mesh too. I would not use mesh as a divider between fry and predators. Alan
Bluetom
apologies alan, it is a 45x30x30 tank. (cm) It looks like they have mostly fungused, tried to pick off the ones that were dead but had trouble telling them apart from the angle i was at so not sure if i got them all, Could it be that i ended up with two females or something?? I will wait a few more days to see if any hatch then next time i will shift them to the other tank, use the airstone and add some methyl blue?? (fungiside??) Bluetom
i cleared away the fungised ones, in doing so found that some of them had started to riggle. Who knows if any of them will get to free swimmin. Have moved the pipe out ito the fry tank but didn't touch the ones on the glass so the angels are still happy looking after them. Fingers crossed
Pegasus
Sounds good Bluetom Pity the parents had so many distractions... as it's great to watch them with the fry. Hope you manage to save some. Bill.
Bluetom
they seemed to have a cool routine though, one was always looking after the eggs while the other 'defended' no that there was much to defend from, the other guys are real peaceful, slightly curious though  thanks pegasus. I'm heading up north for the weekend so i'll have to wait and see when i come back. Alot of luck involved i'd say
