Phillz
I myself have a Melano (brown/black) Double tail male. I think 6 girls from a Blue VT male and Red longfinned Half moon? Would love to get my hands on some Crown tails.
Shelley
I love them! But have had a very poor run with my male bettas....in fact I now have NO male bettas :-? I have one female (Raquel) who is beautiful, when fed up on brine shrimp she becomes almost irridescent. She was a pale baby blue when we got her as a young adult, but now her shades range from rich electric blue to purple...and a touch of red in her fins when in the mood for love. She is an aggressive lover, and when I eventually replace my males I shall condition them for longer before introducing any one of them to her. I am quite keen to have a small (2ft) tank for just my female fighters, as I would like 2 or 3 more in differing colours for my boys (when I get them). I am trying to read up more on bettas as it concerns me that I have lost so many of my boys (4) after a few months of them being seemingly very happy fish they begin to sulk and lose condition and die. One ended up with a nasty hunk out of his side, yet was in a tank on his own when it happened. Very very sad. (and yes I have had all these males in separate tanks). I have just set up a tank which will be a breeding tank....no stones.....and a sponge filter....however financially I am not in a position to be buying Raquel any boyfriends, or female tank mates right now.....which is fine...gives me more time to read up on it! Loopy
Ooo i like bettas too!! i have got 3 males and 1 female and 2 3 week old babies. i don't know what sort the 1st male i got is but he looks very old and plain now. I think he may be a veil tail? The 2nd male we got is a round tail bit he has short fins (looks like a female) and is black with iridecent(sp?) blue streaks and and rusty brown/orange fins. The 3rd male i have is a stunning crown tail male that i was given. He is a random mix of reds, blues and blacks. the female is white/pale yellow with almost rust red fins and she is the mummy to the two babies. The round tail is the daddy. I am so proud of my two babies they are the first betta babies i have had and they are kinda lucky to be alive since they were born in a well stocked community tank! I can't get over how fast they are growing!!
clarkeymaster
I too am very interested in bettas. currently i have 3 male bettas and sadly no females , im hoping i can get a couple soon so i can start trying to breed them after reading so much about them and not being able to put that into practice yet. my 1st male is just a normal everyday betta but is a bright red. 2nd one is a blue/purple with red streaks. 3rd one is a blue/greeny. mistymu05
i got my first betta for my dad when he went for heart bypass surgery as a get well pressie as we had been doin the tank thing together and he had been wanting a betta since we started his aim was to get the tank all set up with the types of fishies that are compatible with bettas and then get one as the final addition to the tank (except for replacements) wel got him the boy and me two girls, bred them lost the first spawn but managed to keep alive my next spawn of about 50....and after selling the majority of babies and losing my two girls and the dad i now have 1 boy - not from the spawn and about 7 from my spawn a definite blue boy (in a tank with just tetras and i think a mix of boys and girls in a couple of tanks (dad has 2 and i have 4) have had trouble with the sexing but getting there......am looking at starting another spawn if but just waiting for a mature girl.......mine seem a bit small......
