suphew
Be careful glueing acrylic to glass, as I understand it silicon doesn't actually stick to the acrylic so if there is any pressure on it, it might come loose. If you are just putting partitions in a sump then it would be ok since there would be equal pressure on each side, but if for example you were putting a new acrylic side in a glass tank it wouldn't work. Also if you scratch the acrylic with sandpaper it will help a little.

Control
This is frustrating me, for some reason I remember something about a primer that you can use on the glass that lets you glue acylic to it.
Pies
no it's easily done. i've done it without any problems. gluing acrylic to acrylic is (apparently) much more difficult though. Nope. Of course you can glue it, but its not strong enough to hold any real weight. Fine for glueing overflow inside the tank where there is no pressure, don't make a glass tank with an acrlic side, this does't work. Glueing acrlic to acrlic is easy, but it bonds, so you can't EVER unglue it. Pie
HelifaxNZ
This has been a very interesting thread, as I am just learning too. Control mentioned about a sump, and this has got me a little stuck too. I hear about it but I can't seem to find any diagrams or instructions on actually setting one up, and where to drill a hole in the tank to accommodate one, etc. Can someone help on this please? Thanks.
Brianemone
the hole should be drilled in the bottom or in the back wall, with an overflow box that feeds it.
Pies
Read through my 'first look at the new setup' thread on this forum. Pics of my overflow box, plumbing, where to drill holes the lot. Its a big thread, but it might help you out. Pie
Feelers
Just a word about gluing acrilic to glass, I built a small ramp for my turtle out of acrlic and glued it in the corners to the sides of my tank, and its came off easily with pressure, but it was fine for the turtles weight. One way I got acrilic to stick was by placing a flat peice of acrilic against the wall with silicone, then gluing the new ramp to that peice, kinda like a sandwhich, the "bread" acrilic was real hard to get off, (so hard I just left one on)
