cees
posted on behalf of Mike Harre Vallisnera gigantea, along with V. spiralis (the Meola Creek variety) are listed as Surveillance plants in the Auckland Regional Pest Management Strategy. They are therefore banned within the Auckland region (as well as any other regions that have them in their strategies). Unfortunately there were a number of plants from the National Surveillance list that for some reason or other were left off the NPPA list. We are hoping that they will be included in the near future. I would advise people to check with their local Regional Council as to what their list is. Anyone who would like a copy of the Auckland list can email me and I will send one out. Rob
Posted on behalf of Natasha Grainger, DOC Northern Regional Office: Although giant vallisneria isn't part of the accord, it is still an Unwanted Organism under the Biosecurity Act 1993, which means it is illegal to release, spread, sell or propagate.
