Amy_leigh
Hi guys, My electric blue ram has 3 brown/red spots on his chin. They have only just shown up since yesterday. Also he keeps staying at the top of the tank and not really moving much. Still eating fine. Does anyone have any ideas to what this might be?? I did do a huge water change yesterday as I had to move my 200L tank. Left about a third in the tank. Help!
Adrienne
Hi Amy-Leigh Welcome to the FNZAS forums. When you get a chance pop up into the Welcome section of the Board Index and introduce yourself. Without a photo I can't imagine what the spots might be however I am concerned that your fish is up at the top of the tank, which suggests a lack of oxygen in the water. Electric blue rams are highly sensitive to water conditions so it is possible that shifting the tank has stirred up any waste lying in the tank. Do you have a test kit to check your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels? If you have an airline and air pump it would be a good idea to add them to the tank or even if you can re-arrange your filter to create more water movement, this would help if it is an oxygen issue. It would also be a good idea to do a 30% water change as soon as you can. Often problems are resolved with water changes.
Amy_leigh
Thanks for the reply. I don't think it is the oxygen level as I have an air line on daily. And all of my other fish are ok. I don't have a test kit. But I will try a water change and see if that has any effect. I have a golden ram and he's fine. My blue ram had been staying near the top for a day or two before I moved the tank also. The spots are raised wondering if was a bacterial thing. Adrienne
Are you able to get a photo and post it? I agree that if it was doing it before the shift then it is most likely something else.

Amy_leigh
I just saw my golden ram, which is a little bit bigger harassing the blue one. I got them both when they were quite small. I wonder if they are maybe both males (I wouldn't have a clue the sex, all my fish are boys to me) or if they male and female and have come of age or something. I don't know much about that kind of thing.
