A-Key
Im Adrian Key from Mexico. I builted an acuarium of 1200mm length 500 width and 1160 high in 12.7mm thickness standard glass. Im not sure to know how high i could fill the tank. I built it with the idea of filling it to 1000mm, but i didnt have in mind the glass resistance. Please help me to calculate how high i could fill it. You will have a thank full friend in Mexico.
peet
He there adrian, check out the site http://www.thekrib.com for further info, simply work the maths backwards, you know the thickness of the tank, the length and width now just calculate the height for the maximum allowable volume. Theres quite a few good sites out there with similar info, just need to do a search for homemade tanks Cheers Peet [ This Message was edited by: peet on 2001-12-23 23:09 ]
Warren
Please see the approximate saftey margins for filling this tank to certain heights: The saftey margin is expessed referenced to 1, which is the breaking strain for the glass. Height of Water Saftey Margin 1160 0.763 Bang 1000 1.119 Saftey too small 900 1.634 Saftey Marginal 800 2.32 Saftey Ok 700 2.82 Saftey Good 600 4.48 Saftey Excellent I hope this helps.
