do you break up the soil in white worm farm every so often?

Hi everyone

I just want to know, do you take a fork or turn over the soil to keep it loose in your worm farm and how often (if you do) do you do it? And is it important to do it (ie does the dirt you use get so dense and hard packed that the worms do find it difficult to get to the surface to feed after a while?)

I always found that my worms stayed around the middle where the food was, so every once in a while I'd stir up the outsides a bit and spray with water.

We stir ours up regularly, to airate the soil and make sure it is moist enough.

Not sure if this is necessarily the correct thing to do, but our worms have been reproducing at a rate greater than what we can feed out, so it can't be that bad.
