Totara
Hi guys, I am just about to get my first aquarium, it is 54 litres. I was looking at test kits and wanted to know is the API Freshwater Master Test Kit worth the $48? It seems to test everything but I am not sure. Also, I have a friend who will sell me his 7 litre Blue Planet Hexi Neon for $5. Is that tank too small for a quarantine tank? I know it is relatively tiny but it is just for a quarantine tank and it has a filter etc. My aquarium is tropical so I would have to put a heater in the Neon, is that tank too small for a heater? Thanks, Will
Caryl
The API test kit is said to be a very good one. Whether it is good value or does what you want will vary depending on the user. Q tank size depends on the type of fish you keep. It needs to be large enough for the largest fish you end up with. You need to check the availability of mini heaters to fit. Anthea
I have only seem the API master freshwater kits for $70 -$80, so if it is the same as mine, that's a really good deal! (Mine does High PH, Low PH, Ammonia, Nitrites, Nitrates...bottles, not strips) I'm a beginner too, and have just set up my tank. I had (am still having) problems, and it was really good to be able to test my own water each day to make sure it was ok. I would definitely reccommend having a test kit! Good luck with your tank
Rouseabout
Test kits - i started into tropicals a year ago and bought this kit. Its been months since I felt the need to do all the tests because everything is fine in my 5 tanks
kinnadian
Buy it overseas, can get it for around $40-$50 shipped. It's definitely the the most recommended test kit there is. Invaluable for a new fish keeper but once you have a cycled tank it becomes fairly useless.
darcy
Hiya, if you haven't already bought one, Hollywood have them on special at the moment. I just picked one up yesterday for $59.
