I've seen the odd reply from people who claim SAE's eat it, but not in my experience. And judging by the complaints on forums the world over, a true candidate has yet to be discovered...

So just curious since I thought BBA only happened when you had plants too (I don't have real plants :oops: ), was it because of the driftwood?

Not sure, I've had it before in tanks with out plants but not as bad as this tank had it (Mostly cleared up now).

I think it's from an inbalance of CO2 which is why it would be much more common in planted tanks. Not entirely sure though!

I've had major ongoing issues with BBA. Also struggled with keeping plants alive.

Identified the problem as extreme PO4. Got it under control with seachem phosphate remover, water changes twice per week and dosing with excel each week and keeping a close eye on what I feed & how often. When the phosphates rise, my nitrates crash to near zero, killing the plants and BBA takes over. It's messy stuff, and cleaning never seemed to stop it, had to try to keep it under control at the source.

Have you checked the phosphate levels? Mine were 5 and should have been under .25, preferably zero.
