mts sufferer
Hi When I was in Timaru last weekend I saw an Indian Banded Gourami (Trichogaster fasciata) at the LFS and I had never seen any of them before. I was really tempted to get it but sadly the shop was closed on sundays which was the day I was going home and I had no way of keeping warm for a day. &c:ry So I was wondering if anyone knows how common they are in New Zealand and how often they are imported. Thanks
Fruju
Average rarity; not really rare but are less seen than the other gouramis usually.

F15hguy
the banded gourami grow quite a bit bigger than the dwarfs, up to about 10cm

F15hguy
yeah, they used to be called that but it led to a bit of confusion, and a few Giant gourami swimming round in tiny tanks

F15hguy
yeps, but when you use common names bad things happen

F15hguy
Dwarf Gourami = Thrichogaster lalius (previously Colisa lalia) Indian banded gourami = Trichogaster fasciata (Previously Colisa fasciata) related but not as close as the colours would make you believe
