zeebee
Hi Guys, So I have started learning about plants and lighting etc, but it is all so technical and confusing! I have a 240L aquarium, which currently has 2x30w and 1x25w fluoros. Is this enough for my plants like twisted vals etc? I feel the light is not penetrating enough to the bottom. Cricketman
I successfully grew plants in my 600mm deep tank with one 10 000 K T8 flouro. It's all relative, and there are a number of factors that come into successful planting... Use the search function, there are HUNDREDS of threads about plants and lighting and species specific requirements even...
zeebee
Thanks, i've been searching, but can't find what i'm looking for. Does anyone have an aqua one 980t? If so what lights do you use? I went to mitre 10 today and picked up 2x30w t8s "cool white", but they are more yellow than the original light bulbs. Is this bad for the plants? BrendanNSANZ
There is a multitude of reading material at your disposal via the web and this forum as per the comment from Cricketman. It all really depends on what you're trying to achieve and your budget. A good starting point for your questions on lighting: http://www.barrreport.com/forum.php http://www.barrreport.com/forumdisplay.php/67-Are-you-new-to-aquatic-plants-Start-here When you think you've read enough, read some more. Another couple I found useful: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/ http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/index.htm Good place for cheap bulbs, research and then decide what you want/need or is affordable: http://www.thelightbulbman.co.nz/ Enjoy.
