cracker
and the response is this.... Dear Craig, some of our customers had bad experience with that product in saltwater, but we could not find out why. Therefor we do not mention it for the use in saltwater. Anyhow, there are other customers as well using it with success. Therefor please keep it observed. Kind regards JBL Dr. Rainer Keppler I shall keep my little beady eye on this one. wasp
If you asked what the bad experience was, you'd have an idea what to look out for. By the way Craig, I'm getting water Friday afternoon. Pretty busy on the weekend, but i'll catch you early next week.

cracker
Dropped my salinity from .28 to .25, (refractometer). Still running balls with no problems. Brain improving, Nitrates dropping.
chimera
over what period of time did you drop your salinity? 2 days that much! ouch, not recommended. best to drop over a few weeks.
cracker
Ive always been a little impatient! Oops. Seems alright....
wasp
Actually, that is an interesting subject. I used to be real careful about changing salinity gradually. Then I read a thing by Shimek, about when he was diving in an area that had bursts of fresh water going through. He noted many coral types living there and prospering. Since then I've been a bit more careless about salinity adjustment, not noticed any ill effects.
cracker
Nitrates down to 5. Salifert. Starting to drop slower now. Removed my carbon and my Phosphate killer today. Will be interesting to see how the 2 x bags CLEARMEC PLUS takes over its job of keeping everything down. PO4 still zero, (Salifert). Tank still looking great........ petplanet
A lot of corals get exposed or reefs at low tide (I have seen brain corals exposed, sps etc). I would say that is a lot harsher than a salinity change and they deal with it twice a day. Reef had a big salinity change. What was the damage?
