Staplez
Does anybody know how to make a 1 way valve so that water doesn't find its way back up through your air line? or should I spend the $3 on one from a store
Thunderstorm
spend the $3 lol
chimera
no no, save the $3 and spend $10 on plastic sheet, $25 on a moulding and $50 on labour to make one
Staplez
Owww even if it cost me $5 more to make one I wouldn't care. I just like making my own stuff if at all possible. But I did think some one might have a easy DIY like puting a ball bearing into a tight fitting container with the air line connected to each end. Pegasus
Ha ha... Quite funny this, as I bought a card of them some time back, which I have since dumped. They restricted the flow so much it was unbelievable. Save the three bucks and mount your pump higher than the tank... saves all the worries about back siphoning.. Bill. Staplez
I didn't mention that but that was a worry I had. The pump not being able to move air trough the valve. Did the ones you had have a rubber beak looking thing inside them?
Pegasus
Yup... They "were" a plastic see through assembly with (as you correctly describe).. a beak looking thing inside. They also tended to give a slight whistle on some of my bigger pumps.... possibly protesting he he. Bill.
Luke*
Just make sure the end doesn't come away from the pump or it will siphon your tank out. I use one as described on pressurised C02 so it's no worries. Probably would be a nightmare for DIY yeast CO2
Joze
I use a 300 ml coke bottle with 2 holes drilled in the lid, slightly smaller than the air hose so it creates a pressurised seal. The hosing going into the tank for CO2 is at the top and the one from the bottle is at the bottom, vice versa for air. It doesnt cause any pressure problems. Those little valves are horrible things. I think it was ballistic who was having a good look at it with a chuckle.
