would red empress & taiwan reefs interbreed?

Yeah Iam sure they would given the opportunity. I have a Livingstoni male trying to breed with my fryeri females. While the female Livingstoni, who lives amongst males peacocks, had breed with one of the peacocks and went to term. I stripped her after 3 weeks and fed the fry to my altos.

Yes they will interbreed they are the same family and females are very similar, males of these 2 species also don't get along very well due to being similar.

All mouth brooding cichlids can crossbreed some more likely than others, only way to guarantee pure fry is to breed in species tanks.
