Travis & Vicki
:-? My female cunning talked my other half into letting me buy a "hospital " tank, only its 1200-450-450, so im now attempting to keep cichlids! i have in there 5 scrawny neons( possible live bait) 1 small rummy nose 2 zebra danios (all live bait in reality) a pair of key holes a pair of convicts and a pair of fire heads. the keyholes, although the smallest, seem to rule the tank, very aggro wee fishies. With the size of the tank and whats already in there what suggestions are there for additions?

Caryl
That is a new name on me, but searching the net tells me its average size is 35cm. Got a bigger tank? In my experience keyholes are usually very peaceful. Perhaps I just had wimps
Travis & Vicki
these 2 keyholes were the biggest fish in the community tank and went into the cichlid tank with the same attitude , the have "small man's syndrome " im sure.
Alan
Those Vieja Synspilum will grow pretty big. Some shops call them strawberry heads. Now you can see the benifit of using their "proper name" We can easy suss it out then. By the way, it's, A - L - A - N Alan

Midas
Vieja synspilum are usually called red-headed cichlids, but I suppose fire-head is similar. Mystics' V. fenestrata should look a bit similar, probably won't have the blue colouration though, synspilum are normally more a mottled red/brown/yellow/black pattern when adults. Travis & Vicki
At this stage they arnt the dominant fish in the tank and are only about 12cm long. If the situation changes i have an empty 4 ft tank in the shed, i will wait and see
Bilbo
Keyholes are one of my favorite fish but I have not been able to find them down here. They are usually, as Caryl said, peaceful.
