Sophia
Thought I'd share this as I enjoyed the narration and found it interesting. There are 2 parts, each about 15 mins long. http://www.youtube.com/user/seafriends11/videos
Adrienne
Have you ever been snorkelling or diving at Leigh? While there are not nearly as many fish near shore as there used to be before feeding them was banned there are still an impressive no. to be seen if you snorkel out towards Goat Island. Warning - if you can not swim or snorkel safely take care. People have been known to die here while snorkelling. There can be quite strong currents. Sophia
I usually go for a snorkel once or twice every summer. I think I have met the big old snapper in the movie called MonkeyFace too. If you swim to the bottom and turn over a rock or 2 the snapper usually come to have a look and from there follow you about  . I believe the new Visitor Centre is now open which has some interactive displays and the like. http://leighmarine.auckland.ac.nz/ This is where the Japanese woman who drowned last year was studying - I believe she was wearing a wetsuit too so always pays to be careful and never go alone.
