herperjosh
I live in Sumner so I can get saltwater but I don't think it is clean. My tropical 200 litre had its front glass panel smashed in the febuary quake it had a stand and a hood do you think.it would be worth trying to replace the front panel and converting it to a saltwater tank? spoon
i have a nac 6a its great you are probably best to work out how much room you have for a sump and cabinet space etc or if your even going to have a sump before you rush out and buy a skimmer

Mirio
By no means necessary, but in so many ways beneficial. If your overflow/flow in your tank is good, you shouldn't get any of that surface build-up stuff. Not too sure what it is exactly, but yeah. Go for the sump man, so many advantages
herperjosh
Do you have to be a diy person because I am really not :-?
Mirio
Depends what you want to do man, pretty sure tank makers will make sumps if you give them designs. Does the tank you have now have overflows drilled? Or are you getting a new tank

I'll get it done by a tank maker
Cricketman
get a overflow box, with the hole in the bottom sheet of glass, like a weir, this will mean that you skim the surface of your display tank, stops some of the scummage that some people experience. also means you can go straight through the stand to your sump. I say this because it is what I have and has worked well for me so far.
