Dawn
Most of my 16 Jewel babies left home today, I swapped 12 with Niloc, kept 3 and one went up the filter last night & died before I found it! I've put them into the same 34 litre tank with a pair of Honey Dwarf Gouramies and was wondering if they'll be okay for a few weeks? I know I can't keep them together indefinately but at the moment the fry are only about 1cm long.
Alan
As long as you have a it of cover, at that size I'm sure they'll be okers Shame about the one that got "filtered" What did the swap consist of?? Alan
Dawn
I swapped for one female Swordtail, one female Guppy and another Swordtail of unknown sex as yet! Lovely fish and I think I got the best of the deal - I reckon Colin doesn't know how horrid Jewels can be when they grow up!

Nilocagain
Fry are doing well still have them all, they are getting on with all other fish except 1 young male guppy (RIP) Getting rather large almost 3cm now. Still haven't set up there new home in the garage. Still need heater and filter for 300lt tank Cheers Colin
HummingBird
I have a spare filter that would be suited to a tank of that size (Aquaclear 500, has substrate(rocky stuff) and sponge but no carbon (that'd cost less than $10 I'd say though) and I might have a heater that would suit as well (I'll have to check the wattage on my spares), I'll give you both for $50. I've seen the filter for sale for over $100 in places.
Dawn
Wow Colin, they're doing better than the three I kept - mine are only about 2cm if that! What are you feeding them on? Mind you my three are in a small tank so I expect that doesn't help.
Nilocagain
Now have moved them into 450lt tank with 5 green and 3 gold severums, however I have just noticed I only have 2 female guppies left and no males. Still lots of sword tails. I guess swordtails are faster then male guppies. And most of the jewels(still have all 12) are around the 6cm mark. Now need more guppies for main display tank
