chilli
car is a 99 mazda familia(auto)ok today we put a new gasket seal in and rocket cover seal, coz had a leak and revs were low etc then done an oil change and filter and new sparks, revs running good now but noticed when took for a drive that the hold light was flashing and took awhile to change gear revs go real high then jumps to next gear, thought maybe coz we did oil and needs time for everything to get a good run but if it doesnt change then i guess its off to the macanics does anyone know what could be making light flash?(and no the hold button isnt pressed in)
ryanjury
Transmission problem? Have you had the transmission serviced at all?
chilli
i havent in the 2 yrs with car now you ask i think the last owner had new fluid put in not long before i bought it
ryanjury
Trans should be properly flushed every 30000k with the right fluid if it hasn't been done in 2 years I would probably start there.. However the hold light flashing on and off would suggest to me that something else could be going on, maybe call a transmission specialist and see if it is a common fault. Has google brought anything up for you?
chilli
got a few ideas off google will read up more tomorrow but yes should get new trans fluid, thanks for ideas better get back to reading
ryanjury
Make sure you actually flush the fluid out not just drop the sump plug, most the fluid sits in the torque converter so you won't change much just draining it.. You can DIY flush it though it's pretty easy. Also look into if your transmission has a filter that can be changed and change that too. Bobyn
If it happens again, Im pretty sure its the button on the auto gear stick, king of like over drive in other cars. I did the same thing in my Mums mazda roadster, took me ages to figure it out.
