Anyone got any idea to safely remove the black algae from the coral? without use bleach? :bounce: :bounce: Cheers buy some flourish excel, and put the rock in a bucket ( just big enough to fit the rock) then fill with hot water and double or even triple dose the thing with flourish, (the algae should start turning red after a 1-3hr hours?)then give it a scrub and a wash in another hot bucket of water. thats how i do it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MarkLB Posted July 30, 2011 Report Share Posted July 30, 2011 I use around a cup of bleach in a bucket of water, soak the rocks until they are clean then rinse them off. I usually leave mine in a cold shower for an hour or two. When I can't smell bleach I consider them safe. I have used this method several times and have had no losses. bigfishhead Posted August 8, 2011 Author Report Share Posted August 8, 2011 :facepalm: I used bleach..... Soak in the bleach for a week. Most of the black algae gone but still have quite a bit on some of the coral rocks. I washed rocks carefully during the weekend. Currently I leave them on my deck for another few weeks... Hopefully the rain will clear the bleach totally. I will use hot water to wash them at last before i put them into my tank. Thanks guys!
