I need a set of lights that I can use for a planted tank and for a marine conversion in the future.
Joe
I was looking at these because they are quite cheap and http://www.deepblueaquarium.co.nz/ has them so they are availible in NZ. I had a look on the net at reviews and apparently the unit isn't very good, the bulbs suck and the ballasts suck. So it is probably best to stay away from them. Joe
I just read a whole heap of various random reviews on the net and most of them weren't very good. I can try and find some for you.
Joe
Wow I've had trouble finding the bad reviews. There's a lot of good ones now. Very intersting. Most people just say to get a new ballast and new bulbs. This thread here is quite helpful; http://www.3reef.com/forums/metal-halide-aquarium-lighting/30-odyssea-metal-halide-system-380w-review-60610.html
si_sphinx
Thanks, Ill have a read. If I got one, I would probably replace the bulbs with what I wanted anyway.
si_sphinx
Ok so from what I've read about them... The older models weren't very good, the parts needed upgrading or replacing. The newer models seem to please a few people and better quality. The legs on them are a flimsy plastic so best to suspend the fixture. Good prices compared to brand named fixtures. but you get what you pay for as everyone says. I think I will take the gamble and purchase one next week. only $750 odd dollars  Ill let you know how it arrives and goes and if it is a waste of money or not.
