heat Pad in plastic bottom tank

Recommended Posts

I'm wanting to get a leopard gecko some time soon so are about to start setting up a tank for him/her.

Currently have two options a 28litre aquaone splish splash tank or a plastic bin (floor area in bin is about 1 and 1/2 that of the tank) will probably be getting a young one so either should be ok for them to start off in, what I'm unsure about is best way to use the heat pad or heat tape with a plastic bottom tank.

I've had a bearded dragon for 2+ year now but he doesn't need a heat pad so have had know experience with them, would they get hot enough to melt the plastic?

If ok I'm thinking of using tiles so should I place the pad under the plastic bottom or in the tank under the tile?ing

Will be buying one to experiment with on the weekend, any recommendations or ones to avoid.
