Phillz tanks

Thanks Phillz, I enjoyed looking at the pictures. The native tank looks very interesting, do you plan to add other native fish to it? I like the idea of using the stones and plants from the river - very cool

:)

Had you thought of taping some black paper (or another colour) to the back of the tanks to hide the cords? I've done that with 2 of mine and it works well. On one, I covered the black paper with clear bookcovering to make it waterproof and its lasting really well.

The 3' tank looks great and will look even better when you get the lighting and plants - how big is that angel? It looks huge.

The 2' one might need more plastic plants if you plan to keep the snails in it, and maybe some more gravel on the bottom .......... a different colour    Sorry, I know I wasn't supposed to comment. :)

Cheers

Jude

Thanks Jude....you make me laugh

For the yucky gravel.....I dunno......those snails give me grief....but I love em. I have tried to give them away a couple of times....but they look too cool & exotic LMAO. I just don't like the look of plastic plants....I thought I might try my hand at making some caves, and just heaps of different texture rocks etc.

For the natives....I can't believe how easily they have adapted....they are all ready racing toward the front of the tank looking for their dinner & even made little caves up....amazing how they use their body to move the rocks. I have to read up on combining the fish....woulc like to have at least another species (these fish are across the road at our backpackers....thought it was a good odea to show off our natives 8) )

I will have to do something about the 2ft tank and backing.....it sits on a small platform under the 3ft.....maybe after I sort out the gravel

The angel isn't that big, maybe 40mm in body/100mm including fins?

I love him/her though he is very interactive!

Thanks for your remarks....very much appreciated

  • 1 month later...

They are from a river that runs by our neighbours place, there are hundreds in the one spot I have found.

I think they are Crans bullies....a north island only bullie :)

They have adapted so well to their new home, they are even eating dry foods nows.....very impresses with them.

I would like to add 1/2 dozen inanga next :D
