Sophia
While I'm waiting for the Doctor to arrive online I thought I would share some photos taken of my pygmy corydora this evening. The background is that at the beginning of the month I noticed this fish swimming differently. While snuffling along for food her rear end and tail would rise as if a balloon attached. When stationary it didn't happen. While said fishy bottom was in the air I noticed her one of her ventral fins was missing and the area red and a bit ruffly, though very hard to see as such a small fish. At the time we thought swim bladder problem plus infection or fin rot. At the time also no other fish appeared infected so either this was a weaker fish or was the one that had been caught in the driftwood tunnel (see thread in signature) and been injured on the way out. Treated fish with Furan for a couple of days but stopped when she appeared to be declining in health. Put her back in with the others where she went back to her usual behaviour, which was feeding, moving about actively and at ease. I thought she would pass away naturally and after that I would treat the tank who needed to be treated anyway by now. So anyway this continued, then about a week and a half ago I moved the cories to their own tank and have been keeping the water clean and trying to condition them for breeding. This afternoon I got home from work and found Bungie (name for bung fish ) listing on her side on the bottom as if dead. Has this fluffy wool attached to a pectoral fin which I recognise as fungus. When you look closely you can see it looks like fuzzy mould like what grows on bread. The base of the fin is red and I can see the classic red veins that also elsewhere. Earlier I thought I could see them but wasn't sure. On trying to catch Bungie it turns out she wasn't dead and swam away but I have caught her and put her in isolation. My plan is to clove oil her to sleep forever as I think she has suffered enough now, or do you think I am overreacting? (I do tend to react dramatically when my pets are ill) . In the sticky on this forum it says that when fin rot has reached the base of the fin it is beyond repair, she has at least one of those that meet that description. later edit - I put her to sleep in the end, sorry if this offends anyone. the-obstacle
Sorry to hear. I had a panda die last night with a damaged pectoral fin that was fluffy to the base too. It sucks big time. Good luck with the rest of them. I found it's fairly easy to get them breeding. Some good live food and a 20% cold water change in the evening gets the pandas going for it. Squirt
Haha ask my mate on how to breed. I think his/his family's name on here is Colin. He's told me he's bred some bronze cories. Haha he was so funny bout it "I couldn't even sell the first 6 adults... Now I have hundreds!"

The pandas are breeding right now and the damn angels are following them picking the eggs off the plants.
Squirt
Yeah I dont think he was planning on breeding them. Just sticking them in a bare tank till they sold I think?
Sophia
Thanks Dan. I will do some more big water changes this weekend. Have been feeding them chopped worms of various sorts and a little pellet/wafer food also. So am now back to 7 again, 3 males and 4 females.
