BigBossPants Posted May 16, 2011 Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 I dont know whats going on, my 650l tank has started to smell. Originally it had a slight ammonia smell to it, so tested the water... Ammonia and nitrite 0, nitrate 10ppm, pH 7. Did a partial water change anyway and now its about a week later and the smell is starting to resemble sulphur. Filtration is an open top 3ft sump, the sand bed is maybe 1.5 inches deep and I have trumpet snails to turn it. I cant see any black areas and have not seen bubbles rising. My bristlenoses have been digging however. The tank has been set up for a month or so but everything was moved in straight from the old tank, sump included. What could it be? I get a strong sulphur smell from my driftwood soaking barrell when there's lots of fresh wood in there and it sits in the sun too long without a water change.
