Ethan.L
Hi all, I have just recently gotten back into having aquaria after a few years off and while in a halls of residence last year. Picked up a small tank to have on my study desk. Decided I wanted to plant it to give it some colour, and since it's only small I'll just stick to a few small tetras. I wanted some driftwood but will have to wait to go to the beach to find some. Will also look at replacing the lighting with a better unit once I can afford, doesn't help being a student. Anyway, heres the build. Hope you enjoy. Laying down the Daltons Aquatic Mix and sand ( Thanks to vwboy77 and Antwan) Placing some of the plants I bought. I couldn't get any mosses so I'll most likely add some when I find some. Small rock cave I build since my rummynoses seem to like to hide, wonder if they'll ever use it? Full Tank shot showing my study area.
Sophia
Welcome to Nano Land :happy2: how big is your tank?
Ethan.L
44cm x 23cm x 23cm. Roughly 25L, so pretty small.
Joe
Awesome If you PM me your address I can send you some Xmas Moss and Windelov Fern if you like
Sophia
Cool. The cory/loach tank in my signature is about same size - 22 litres. You are far more restrained than me in your stocking though  :bounce:
Ethan.L
Yeah I doubt I will be able to fit much more than the 4 rummynoses that are in there currently. Wish I could get a bigger school which would hopefully make them a bit more lively. Then dont seem to like the lights on much and just hide in one corner of the tank, but become more lively at night. Anyone have any solutions to this? Can't always have the lights off since I have plants in there now. Just gives me another excuse to get a bigger tank if I want more fish
Sophia
already planning a bigger tank hahaha :spop:
Joe
Get rid of the Rummies and get Boraras briggitae or Danio margaritatus :bounce: Both are lively and active and don't mind a lot of light. Rummynoses prefer subdued lighting.
antwan
I have plenty of driftwood here in our pond. You're welcome to stop by when it's not raining and go wading if you like.
Ethan.L
Thanks Antwan I might take you up on that once this rain stops. I'm liking the look of the Mosquito Rasboras. Are hard are they to find? Anyone / shops in Christchurch got any?
Sophia
HFF have both mosquito (brigittae - they are tiny and very active)and dwarf (maculata - bigger but won't grow quite as big as brigittae) and they ship. Fish are approx $5 each and they do ship. That's if I don't go and buy them first :bounce:
