If you're going to spend $5K you might as well save up a little bit more and get something more exotic. How about a blue-base crossback gold? Those are absolutely stunning, but I don't know if they can be brought in/ how much they would cost. But, one can dream!

yeah, there is no end though

you gotta set a budget and stick to it.

you can always spend more. like a car!

that website is a good place to start

he brings in top notch animals - expensive but great specimens.

xback is gonna set you back a bit.

for the cheapest last time i checked was 4k to 5k.

thats a reasonable price to bay for a good quality one.

do you have experience with arowanas?

or is this going to be your first cos if it is, i suggest to start with something cheaper, get the filtration going, your knowledge and stuff, then get one.

I think if I ever did (hopefully!) invest in a really high-end aro, I would get a tank similar to David R's - shallow but bigger footprint. That way, you can really see the fish swim around properly without stopping for a glass wall. I reckon aros look best when they are swimming horizontally, much more majestic. But someone once told me that when you're shopping for an aro, look at the way it swims vertically - it should look like a smooth airplane landing..
