BikBok
My youngest Kuhli Loach appears to be injured, but I'm not sure what to do about it. We've had this one for only 6 months or so. He/She has what looks like a cluster of eggs hanging under her belly but they are not green , and the area around it is red, maybe a bit swollen. hard to get a good look let alone a photograph. There is another patch of red/white skin as though she has been bitten or had a scrape. Can't imagine what has happened unless another fish has attacked it.. the only possible culprit is the Hypancistrus choc zebra as I suspect he also killed one of my otos. The kuhli is hiding amongst the plants and behind the driftwood, in the cave etc , not burrowing as he usually does so i know he's not happy. What is the best course of action.. that egg looking cluster has me worried, could it be intestines ?
Caryl
It sounds really bad and I suspect you may be right with thinking it is intestines, injured from an attack. Try and catch it and separate it from the other fish. I doubt there is anything you can do but put it out of its misery. Sounds like a serious injury :-? BikBok
well he has enough life in him to escape being caught! I'll try again later when he is calm again.
Caryl
Can you take some pics once you catch it? It is amazing how fast a sick or injured fish can move when it wants to!
