axolotl-danio
The powerhead that drives the built in wet-dry over top filter in my aquaone 850 (165L) aquarium is rated for 1000lph and is starting to show its age with some wear and tear and is loosing output pressure. Would there be any technical problem with replacing it with a higher output powerhead, say 2000lph? There are some smallish fish in the tank but they should be able to handle the increase in water flow. Thanks
Zayne
you have to watch the drip plate thing as i tried this but my pump was too powerful and just overflowed, have you changed the impeller?
smidey
what rate was the new pump zayne? i think a small inrcease would be ok, like an extra 200LPH. i would throw a canister on it which is what i did on my sunsun of a similar size. ryanjury
I increased the flow on my tank from 850 to 1200lph with no issues my filter had 1 main overflow in the filter and 2 back up ones.
axolotl-danio
There are holes at either end if the water level gets too high.
Zayne
i cant remember but i changed the pump on an aquaone - 380 and it ended up flowing off to the side where there was a hole(back into the tank)
axolotl-danio
Might not be a good idea then as that would make a lot of noise.
