mincedgreen
Hi guys, just wondering if you could shed some light/advise how to treat to help this poor fish. I tried to take pics but I'm rubbish with a camera and she moves too quickly. I have an adult female platy - has been very healthy up till a few days ago - breeding and eating well. Now she has suddenly gone super thin - like she's collapsing inwards!!. She has her top fin clamped down and her head is always above the rest of her body. She still eats when offered food and still comes up to the glass to say Hi. Water parameters are good - everything is running well. We introduced a few new plants recently and added a stronger bulb to our light. She shares a community tank with other platies, 1 bristlenose and 2 otos - everyone else seems well. Is she helpable? or should I say goodbye now? I'm willing to try anything!
Caryl
How old is she? If kept in a tank so she is constantly breeding they get exhausted and often die young as a result. Perhaps separating her so she can have a rest and feeding her well will make a difference.
mincedgreen
She is probably about 2 - she would be our oldest platy I believe - I will separate her as soon as I can
