oneeyedfrog
Hubby picked me up another tank but had a little mishap and cracked the back. Its a 90cmx 38 x38 and its got a 8cm crack midway up the back panel on one side. Would it be ok with a patch on the inside? Or better to replace the panel? Thanks
Zev
I suspect that the crack will keep traveling, so it may be better to replace the whole pane.
ryanjury
You can patch it, but as Zev said it will keep travelling, I usually encourage these cracks to finish their journey make sure that the crack is clean (ie no shark edges where it may branch off again) and then patch it. Zayne
i would say replace it!!! even in you patched it, it will be weak, and it would look quite ugly.
ryanjury
Always better to replace, but how is the tank being used? I have plenty of tanks with patches and none have let go yet, that tank is pretty small so should be fairly easy, sure it looks ugly but if it is just a breeding tank or you are clever then you can hide it. fishandchips
Always good to replace but if you dont want to get a small (10mm) glass hole saw bit and kill the crack by drilling a hole at the end then cover with a pane of glass. oneeyedfrog
I can get another piece of glass for around $20 so I think I'll replace. Here's hoping I don't smash the whole thing when I do it Thanks for the advice
