Sophia
At what age does the sex of the fry develop, and can it be influenced by the fishkeeper? I find that many or even most of my biggest fry seem to be males and I 'thought' I was told that it can be due to temperature but I can only remember vaguely. Does anyone know? Zev
I think the sex is determined before they hatch, possibly by temperature, in some fish such as the Epiplatys and Psedepiplatys there is a tendency for older fish to produce a majority of male offspring (hence I have a tank full of mainly male dageti :-? )

alanmin4304
Different species also tend to produce more of one or the other sex. P52S produce a lot more females than males and the gardneri blues (aquarium strain which looks almost identicle have about half and half).
