fattythecatty
Have fallen in love with these wee fish but don't know much about them. In fact I confess, I've not even seen them in the flesh but would love to set up a wee tank for them as I hear they are on the fish list. Anyone keep these fish, any tips? phoenix44
They are wonderful, but notoriously hard to feed. The importer feeds them on live foods and occasionally bloodworms.
fattythecatty
ok, so I would have to culture whiteworm or something to feed them?
Jf2003
I have 6 of the wee guys, Mine have no trouble feeding, I just feed New Life Spectrum Small Fish Formula which i purchased from HFF. If you are after some, I saw some in Organism in Christchurch this morning.
ryanjury
Cool fish I am glad to hear they are around I have only seen them once in the flesh and they are tiny but cool little guys. I am sure you could feed them on newly hatched brineshrimp, micros/grindals etc, ones on pellets would be even better!
fattythecatty
Hmmmmm, I'm heading to Chch in a couple of weeks. If I got a small tank up and running with some media from my big tank......................................this could be do able!
Jf2003
It might be worth seeing if John at Organism would send them down to you, apparently they only come around a couple of times a year, so you may miss out......... I would recommend a heavily planted tank, they like lots of places to hide!....
fattythecatty
Obviously I will ask my local store if they are on the list, and if they can get some in, I'll do it that way. I know there's a 2 footer in the garage. What sort of stocking would that allow?
Jf2003
I have my 6 in a 40L tank, with 5 pygmy cory's and 4 otto's & a couple of threadfin rainbows, probably on the over stocked side, but my tank is well established and has heavy filtering.
