Luke*
1) more than likely they'll have peppering. discus in general are considered more desirable if they have very little peppering. 2) depends if they've actually raised fry properly, from egg to wriggler to free swimming; because then you know you can sell on the juveniles in a few months. if not, well, eventually hopefully they will.. but who knows? most good pairs are around the $400-500 mark
Flosty
Just what Luke has said already, most do have some form of peppering but it would be nice to see some without, chuck some pics up if you can? If you a paying the price for a pair, best to see them with fry on there back Also what are your intentions?,raising discus takes a lot of work and isn't necessarily for everyone Though its nice to have a goal, for instance with the marlboro you could look at trying to clean them up of peppering

fishplants
Hi Zayne, If they are a confirmed pair (ie produced fry), and have successfully raised a/mulitple batches of good numbers of fry, then $400-$500 may be reasonable. If they are recently paired and/or have laid one or two unsuccessful batches, then paying much less would be reasonable, say $200-$350. Worth a bit more too if the peppering is non existent/minimal. Most Marlboro Reds I have seen have minimal peppering. Shape/colour is genetic so this is also important. Hope that helps.
Zayne
The female has the most peppering mostly around her face but the male has only a few
