mcrudd
HI all, Gosh I had such a big fright yesterday. Our power went off from about 12:30 to 2:30 (a guy folded his car around a powerpole) and when the power came back on my pump for my filter made these gurgling sounds like it always does when you switch it on again as it sucks the filter full of water again. BUT that is all it did, it was not sucking the water in I could see it attempt to but it was not managin, I was in a hurry to get to Keas as the kids were doing a concert and I am a leader so all I did was switch it off and add another bubble wall so the fish won't run out of oxygen, when I got home it was working again as I switched it on. Does this mean my filter pump is busy going downhill or does that happen sometimes. Should a person try and have a spare one?
Bishop
Mine does that every now n then after switching the power off. I am not really experienced in the filters but I do know the little motors they use for the smaller pumps can loose oomph over time and need a helping hand. Very rarely do the little motors stop turning though. ( at least in my non filter experience ).
Insect Direct
just sounds like it got a little air in the system. if we are talking of a canister filter? they often do that after a power cut, most of the time they can flush it out and shes all good. When they get older and or just sometimes too much air gets in they struggle to or just dont start. put hose or internal on intake of canister, flush the air out turn canister on and should go. mcrudd
http://www.blueplanetaquariums.com/Port ... lter_H.htm I have a filter like the one in the video, mine is just much bigger. Not sure what they are called. Its fantastic news if its just air Insect Direct, lets hope its that. I will go and price these just incase :-? Bishop I did turn a little on that little fan thingy in the motor so perhaps you could be right too either way I think I will take my blueplanet card with the filter details and see what I can buy just in case
Bishop
I have the same style on my 50L, mine does it all the time, I just tip some water down the intake to get rid of air bubbles and to fill it up and it works a treat. I wouldn't stress just yet.
