Ismart120
Ok, everyone knows that most plecos can grow quite large but what do most people think is the appropriate tank size for an adult? Say, common pleco or sail fin, 25-30cm size? And do people think it comes down to mainly tank size or is habitat/filtration etc the more important? Interested to see what the consensus on other pleco types is too.
David R
A 25-30cm "common" is only about half grown. Decide on the species you want to keep then look them up on planetcatfish.com to see how big they get and what kind of set up they need, you should be able to figure out the tank size from there. Rabbit
Filtration is the same as any other aquarium "it needs to be adequit" plecs are typically quite territorial so if you wish to keep more than one the tank needs to be larger again than double what would have been enough for one. Unless you can provide and exact species or at the least genus the answer will remain the same.
Ismart120
haha, whoops, knew that size looked a little small when I typed it, shows that I should actually check th size before asking questions... and its more of a thought game at this point, (I'm keeping bristlenoses at the moment myself), by common pleco, the one I had been thinking of was hypostomus plecotomus? (Spelling is terrible i know)
Ismart120
ah, and about the tank size, I've just heard so many different answers so while I can see the general size needed, I was wondering what people here thought, and what they kept theirs in.
