Phantom
Hi, I fed some fish some JBL dried daphnia about a week ago and I've noticed a whole bunch of these guys now swimming in the tank. They're tiny ~1mm in length at most. I'm wondering if they're Cyclops Copepod's. If they are, are they safe? I've now got some gold gardneri killies in the tank trying to breed them. This is the best photo I could get of one, took a while. There is a fibre from a synthetic wool spawning mop next to it for size comparison. Stella
Fairly impressive photo! Yeah, copepods, very common, very harmless
Danni
I think you are right and they can be fed to baby Axolotls so I guess fish would be OK too.
Phantom
Thanks. The photo did take me quite a while. Even then it's not the best. Happen to know if fish will eat them? They seem to be multiplying by the day. Any harm to eggs since they're in a tank I'm using for breeding? Edit: Also, if one was to try and collect them, would they make good food for killie fry? Danni
Hi No harm to eggs but still unsure whether they will eat them. I would leave them in and see as it won't hurt. Danni
