Morcs
Ive been wanting to set up a 4x2x2 viv for a while, just that finding a decent stand is difficult / expensive. Just had a brain wave, i have a desk in the garage waiting to be biffed, got the tape measure out, measures 4x2 perfectly Just wondering if it would be strong enough, a tank that size is heavy, but could go 6mm glass to reduce weight (not like its gonna have water in it!) I sat on it, im 75kg, and it was fine, rocks abit, but i could strengthen the joints. But yeah, ok ya reckon?
WTM
I'd say for a beardie viv, it should be fine... Basically anything without water should be fine, or too many rocks. Perhaps put some more bracing, or extra fastners?

I went and found some solid pine in the garage, already bracing it and ill just whack a heap more nails in on the existing joints
WTM
I'd use screws, much better "hold"... Let us know how it goes
smidey
nails won't help in particle board/mdf, use screws. i would an an extra support in the middle, even a single post type support at the front & back will be beneficial.

Pretty much what I did. I used nails as im lazy, and whacking things with a hammer is fun. Its a lot sturdier now. Its now stored away until I decide to get the terrarium made - got to have a think about the design as the last one i got made, due to how it was braced, made it very difficult to mount the lamps nicely. I just picked up some terrarium type tanks for someone else from Greg and he did a really good job sliding doors and all that stuff.. I would just call him 021900727 or 092734121 and see what you can work out..
