Skip™
I've had two male Neon Royal Red Gourami's in my 250L community tank for about a month now and one of them has been constantly building a bubble nest - full of pieces of half my plants!!! It's constantly ripping my plants apart and has started to become a aggressive towards anything that comes nearly the back corner where the nest is. Bubble nest from the top: Bubble nest from the side: Sorry for bad quality photos - they are from my mobile. Question is - i've never had any experience with gourami's breeding and wonder will they breed easily in a community tank? And are there any females around? Any advice would be appreciated. ryanjury
Females are in high demand but I have heard they don't usually import them as they get egg bound and die easily in quarantine. This can cause issues/costs for importers who have to declare all losses to MAF and MAF can order them to have tests conducted to determine the cause and confirm they are not carrying diseases which can cost the importer thousands of $$.. ryanjury
It is also confusing because the honey gouramis are dwarfs and females come in for them all the time It is the neon blues/reds that seem to have the issues with girls! Heres hoping that person has a female of one of them..
