maoripho3nix
Hey guys, Last night after getting home for the day, I had a good look at the fish as I usually do, but noticed what I would say is Fin Rot on 3 of my fish. I did a water test, everything seemed ok, did a water change after that. Woke up this morning, and the 3 were lifeless One of my Neons and both of my only Guppies The other fish seem to be ok and are swimming around as normal. I can not see any symptoms on the other fish. What can I do?? Was it fin rot as i suspected? What can I do to prevent the other fish ending up the same way? Please help Thanks guys P.S. the fins of the dead fish looked like this
Adrienne
yes to fin rot. Treatment varies depending on what other sorts of fish you have in the tank. Clean water really really helps. Let us know what else is in the tank.
Snowman
How often and how much water do you change, 14l is a very small tank, my smallest tank is 60 ltrs and i still think of that as small. Generally water conditions is what will cause it. I'd try doing 2ltr water changes 3 times a day for a couple of days to start with and dont feed for a couple of days. It wouldnt take much leftover food to pollute that size tank. I'd definetly look at upgrading size wise.

I have been looking at upgrading but the wallet hasnt been big enough to do so, I managed to get my hands on a valve and regulator for the c02 recently which put me back a little. The small tank is challenging and water conditions change rapidly, but Im usually on top of it all. Thanks for the comments, ill keep up with the water changes. Didnt realise that fin rot would kill so rapidly.
Adrienne
Often by the time you notice it it is fairly advanced and in red/orange fish is harder to spot the tell tale streaks. You could add salt to the tank but I don't know enough about otos to know if they can handle it. Maybe someone else may know.
