caroldaisy3
I have a 120 litre tank and about 3 1/2 weeks ago bought a new Eheim Jager 25-300 W heater. It is set at 30 degrees but the light never goes off and the thermometer consistently shows between 24-27 degrees. Any suggestions please. smidey
how many watts is the heater? the "25-300" doesn't make much sense to me. i would recomend a 150 watt jager which will be plenty for that size tank.
caroldaisy3
i guess it is 300 watts...that is all it has got on the box.
smidey
i doubt it will be 300 watts, those heaters are almost 2 feet long & will easily keep that size tank up tp the max temp. they are rated for up to 1000L tank. it should have the litreage & wattage on the top of the heater. can you take a picture? spoon
make sure its calibrated properly there is a secondary adjustment on jagers
caroldaisy3
It says 100 watts.
smidey
from memory the 100w is suited for 150L tanks. is your tank in a very cold room?
Ira
And I think Jager rates their heaters "up to xxx liters" based on a nice warm room which does not describe many houses over winter.

oO SKIPPY Oo
the box and heater both say they are good to 150L - Carol is my "outlaw" - hehe - the room is pretty warm she keeps a gas heater going at night and yet the tank is sitting at 27 degrees. i really dont understand why the jagers light would be on 24/7 unless its faulty ? oO SKIPPY Oo
haha yeah if only - i always see my heaters turn on and off - but this one is always on - carol has been checking it regularly - and the temp isn't getting above 27 degrees and drops overnight to about 24 so my thoughts were that it was faulty
smidey
set the heater to 26 & see how it does
oO SKIPPY Oo
set the heater to 26 & see how it does do you mean to just to see if the light turns of or permanently - there are 2x discus in there so we wont really want to drop the temp permanently
smidey
yes, adjust it down to 26 to see if it is working properly. i find it odd it's strugling with keeping the temp.
