Bas
Hi all, I am Bas Schurink and I live in The Netherlands in a town called Zaandam, that is nearby Amsterdam. I am born in Amsterdam and since I was 7 years old I am busy with keeping and breeding fish. I started wit a tank from 50*30*30 and now I have around 10 tanks with a total amount of 3500 litres of water I guess. Since the summer of '03 I am focussing on breeding Bettas. I started with a VT and after I few weeks I started to breed with them. In March 2004 I won with my breeded VT the 2nd price on the EHBBC show. At this moment I try to breed high quallity HM red bettas. Last summer I started to built my own website http://www.bettakwekerij.nl/ At this moment I have around a 100 bettas at my place. In september this year I started together with my friend Joep van Esch (http://www.bettaterritory.nl/) our own forum to share knowledge about keeping and breeding bettas with people all over the world. This is a little story about me Regards, Bas

Bas
Welcome, love your websites, very nice had a look at your web site , you have a lovely set up and some lovely fish!! Thank you a lot , this gives me a good feeling again about this forum, because not everybody from this website is thinking the same and wrote in my guestbook that I am a sick person, because my bettas are swimming in a 6 liter tank, but the poor guy didn't leave his email address that would say enough I think. But I will tell you my fish is one of the importent things in my life. I will do 4 or 5 shows next year. Last year I did 2 shows and won twice a price. The shows that I will go to are in Germany. Most of the time I should book a hotel because it is far away from my place. Grtz, Bas
Caryl
It is easy to criticise when you are anonymous Bas. Take no notice. I am sure your fish are well looked after.
Bas
yes I know, but it gave me a bad feeling today. I think you can understand that. But after seeing those comments it gave me a very good feeling
Caryl
Why do we always let ourselves feel bad about 1 or 2 negative comments and forget the many more positive ones?
Bas
that is a good question :-? Don't know....
Alan
Bas, welcome to you from another NZer. great to see your site and the fish makes me very envious as our best ones available in NZ are probable your worst ones. Can you please PM or email me the info you have on that idiot that hit your guest book. We may be able to suss out who it was and say farewell to him. I have my suspicions already. Have a look under my post and make your choice. As one of the older generation on this site, I'd like to apoligise for his unwanted behavior. good luck Bas Alan
Pegasus
Sorry to hear about the bad guestbook feedback. Looking at your fish and site, you are obviously a dedicated fish keeper, and the idiot who ommitted signing your book obviously hasn't a clue about breeding and keeping Bettas. Keep up the good work and try to ignore such comments. Are tyou sure it was from NZ...? Bill.
livebearer_breeder
Welcome to the site, here we are generally quite a positive community of hobbyists. Forget the retard that upset you, obviously you have been keeping and breeding absolutly beautiful bettas so you must be doing something right i would not challenge your methods. Cheers Shae
kim
if they think your tanks are small they cant no much about fighter..... they live in puddles in the wild, and alot of people eg breeders and importers keep them in jam jars , fighters like small places . and i think your set up looks like one of the best and nicests ones around so if someone wants to throw stones they should get there facts right first
