tracytrout
Am hoping someone has used plastic breeding mats (the square grassy ones that are also used for baby fish to hide in) for breeding barbs or any type of egg laying fish and can tell me if you lay them directly on the bottom of tank or hang them somehow so there's a gap between mat and bottom of fish tank. I was originally told by the person who I bought my Longfinned Rosey Barbs off that he just had a dense mat of java moss and his bred this way but I've done this over several months and have witnessed the eggs being eaten as fast as the females are laying them and no babies yet . Have looked unsuccessfully for a metal mesh type tray or basket I could alter to fit the tank so have resorted to buying 2 x plastic breeding mats which fit perfectly in tank so that adults cannot get underneath to eggs when laid Any advice really appreciated
