kleinr
I have a pair of Moonlight Gourami that I am trying to bread. I have bread Gold, Honey Dwarf and Blues. They all go through the same process of blowing a bubble nest in which to keep the eggs. The Moonlight male is doing things a little different in that he has shredded the Indian Fern I floated on the surface for the bubble nest and created a sort of birds nest from it. He has not blow any bubbles into the nest. His current behaviour indicates he is guarding the eggs as he is constantly grooming the nest and keeping the female cowering in the corner behind the sponge filter. I have removed the female and gave her a good look over. Her tail fin is a little tattered which is common in the females after spawning. Has any one else experienced the same nesting characteristics? I guess the only way to know for sure if there are any eggs is to wait and see if any fry appear. SamH
My dwarf gourami used to build bubble nests and reinforce them with leaves. The pair spawned once but the eggs were eaten due to them being in a community tank. HTH
kleinr
Two days after removing the female I had a close look and found some fry hiding amongst the leaves. Unfortunately I was not prepared and did not have any food for them. After 3 weeks only 4 have survived
Adrienne
Are you sure there are only 4 or is that all you can see. What are you feeding them now as they still look very tiny?
