mcrudd
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii23 ... lter-1.jpg The above link is to a very silly little drawing of my filter. I have a blue planet vista and that is how my filter is set up. Let me know if anything is unclear, I know the pic is not the easiest to go by, but I google immaged and could not find any good pics. Now my question is that someone mentioned to me that I don't actually need carbon in my tank unless I try to get meds out of it. I thought it was very important and changed it every three months, And there is a lot of carbon in my filter which is set up according to the tanks at animates. So now I ask all you fish breeders out there,is carbon neccessary in a tank, am I replacing it enough and if it is not neccessary what on earth do I put in its space. Hope all of this is clear enough so you could help me edit to add http://www.blueplanetaquariums.com/Port ... lter_H.htm Found this video that shows my filter, except mine has four compartments and is much much bigger. SamH
No, it's not needed unless you have non-toxic cloudy or unclear water. Water changes are better for that sort of thing though. Also, the order should be IN> Black sponge > Filter Wool > Biological media> OUT. This keeps the Bio media cleaner. HTH 8)

mcrudd
Are all compartments the same size? The two in the centre is bigger than the two at the side, that is where I currently have my bio balls and ceramic circle thingies edit to add I just eddited my size at the top it is 40 not 80 and it is by 15cm will meassure it exact now and re edit again
SamH
Going from in to out; I'd put filter wool in the 1st one, sponge int the second and the last two with Biological media. Can't hurt to get someone else's opinion though
mcrudd
Just to correct the sizing, just did it with some tape  Its from Out to In 8cm....12cm.......12cm......8cm The filtermedia part is sized above then you add for the pipe and outlet pipe thingy and that adds to 80cm sorry about that error all
SamH
How tall is it? Also, how wide?

SamH
4.8L, nice 8) I'd just rearrange the current order of media so the Bio balls are near the out end, keeping them cleaner.
