SamH
According to this chart my almost 5 week old (1mth 4 day old) Betta fry are stunted. They look under the 2 week mark even I'm new to raising them and suck at feeding and water changes but have recently put in the sponge filter to clear the suspended particles up. I've put a few egg rafts in there so I hope that provides some more food, they were on an egg yolk and "whatever else is in the tank" diet so I'm not surprised they're small. My question is, what can I feed them now to give them a good growth spurt? Thanks.
Discusguru
The only food that can save your stunted frys are life food together with daily water change. cheers, ron

Zev
You just know he is going to say freshly hatched BBS, don't you?
Discusguru
Mosquito larvae is the best. Daphnia will be ok too. The next best food is BW. Do not overfeed with BW.

SamH
You just know he is going to say freshly hatched BBS, don't you? *facepalm* Should have thought of that. We'll see what we can get our hands on, will try do it better next time. Just need to source me some microworms and brineshrimp eggs. Mosquito larvae is the best. Daphnia will be ok too. The next best food is BW. Do not overfeed with BW. I have some egg rafts from the mozzies that should hatch soon, may catch the small ones with a very fine net or something. Live BBS might be a bit too small. These fish are tiny

Discusguru
How big is the frys? You did say 5 wks old. If too small, then feed with newly hatch BBS as suggested by Zev. You have to feed at least 3 times a day. MW is not very good for growing but better than hunger if you can't feed them. The way to grow big healthy frys is to let them eat all the time and water change at the end of the day.
SamH
and how many are in that? No idea? The way to grow big healthy frys is to let them eat all the time and water change at the end of the day. I do water changes usually once a day, it's just difficult to heat water so I take it from another tank. Will look for live food this weekend thanks. Discusguru
No good taking dirty water from another tank. Need nice fresh water. Just mix your hot and cold water from tap in a bucket and add some water ager.
SamH
The tank I'm taking it from is 54L and has 2 Ottos, a fighter, a clown killie and two medium sized BN in it as well as plants. Seeing as I change the water in that every day too I thought it'd be okay, perhaps not? :-? Will try that hot + cold mix tomorrow, it always feels safer knowing it's from a 28C tank though. If the water in the 54ltrs is okay then it don't need changing
