melrick1
I have had kribs and rams with these guys & had everyone breeding. Have a 1.2m,45cm,45cm tank that I wanted to have a colony of yellows and a breeding group of gbas. I have read that the water conditions need to be up there for these cichlids... Will I be able to have plants or will they distroy them?
Matto
the plants wont last long because they like to dig.
melrick1
yeh I thought that was the case, they wont eat them tho? There would be a way round them if they were between large rocks or something like that?
Matto
they will probably eat soft plants but the flax stuff and the grasses might work.....maybe.
si_sphinx
My cichlids don't seem to eat java ferns, anubias or vals. however the vals do get pulled out occasionally.
ryanjury
Are you planning on putting the yellows with the rams and other things? You can keep the yellows and GBA's together and they will still breed, my bristlenoses reguararly breed in my big african tank, the only problem is any babies produced are eaten so I have to remove the babies when they are almost free swimming (siphon or I pull out the ornament they are on). You could also do a group of Dems with your yellows in a 4ft tank to get a nice blue/yellow contrast..
