Carlos & Siran
We got this substrate from our LFS, it looks natural and the loaches like it, only thing we find is the aqua base gets through it a bit...... we've also got a black for our comp tank but it's hard to find. Lots of people just use builders sand from the hardware store.
Jennifer
I got some basalt black grit off trade me and I like it a lot. I was in a pinch to get some more and went to my LFS and bought a bag of shiny black grit 'made' by Aqua One. I don't like it as well as it is shiny but it is fine and being an Aqua One brand it should be widely avaialble by your LFS. HTH
Morcs
Pool filter sand. 25Kg bag was like $20 from my local swimming pool place. Needs a good wash, but then its awesome.

David R
Check the bag before you buy "pool filter" sand, I've bought it three times and ended up with three different products...
