redracer77
Hi, my male eunotus is not well he has one side of his face almost black with the other side looking fine, also noticed lsat night that he is gasping slightly and didn't eat either. I have had him for about a year and had no issues, water seems good and have done a 20% change on sunday, I do have pics but can't put them up - can email to someone. Any help is greatly appreciated don't want to lose him. Thanks
ryanjury
Gutted mate I have had some issues with apistos as well, they seem to randomly do the gasping and not eating thing and then dropsy kicks in, I am yet to find any cure for them have tried a few things.. Feel free to email the pics to me but I won't be able to post them until after work, maybe lunchtime..
Caryl
The only reference I have seen in regards to a black area on a fish (as opposed to a whole fish turning black when stressed) is cancer Someone else may have other thoughts and some helpful advice though

redracer77
Thanks Ryan, Sorry about the quality. I have started treating him with furan last night, doesn't appear to be gasping as much but hard to tell, one side of his face still black and is almost perfectly down the middle, its quite weird, doesn't appear to be swollen. i will update progress
ryanjury
From the things I have seen with the ones that died of mine I would go down the anti-biotic route too, it is very hard to figure out what to treat with when you have no real idea what is wrong
redracer77
Yeah, I also have some metronidazole which has worked in the past might try that as well.
